Our church has a long tradition of sending and supporting missionaries.  Here is a glimpse into the lives of some of those with whom we have partnered in the past.

Ed and Joyce de Rosset
Peru, South America

Ed and Joyce were married at our church on August 5, 1941, and Ed was ordained here on February 23, 1942.  Joyce's father was our pastor when they were commissioned, and they served with Baptist Mid-Missions in Peru.  Fun fact: they once drove from Pennsylvania all the way to Peru!  They are both buried in the Evans City Cemetery with the words “Christ for Peru” on their tombstone.

Ed and Jane Lieb
Brazil, South America

Ed and Jane served with Brazil Gospel Fellowship Mission in Fortaleza, Brazil, and were supported by our church from 1949 until Jane's death in 2019.  Evans City was their home when they would return on furlough. They had six children and two of their daughters are still serving in Brazil and are supported by our church.  They were heavily involved in the SIBIMA Maranatha Seminary and Bible Institute (an evangelical institution of theological education).  In addition, Jane was one of the founders of the Priscila School.

Phyllis grew up in our church (her sister was Eileen James) and served in Africa as a single missionary before she met Roger.  Roger and Phyllis served with Evangelical Baptist Missions and we started supporting them in the 1950s.  Roger's address changed to Heaven in January 2016 and Phyllis joined him in November 2021.

Lyman & Helen Goehring
Brazil, South America

Lyman grew up in this church and met Helen at Bryan College.  They served with Baptist Mid-Missions as church planters in Brazil for over 40 years and retired in 1992.
